Young Irish Baseball Player

A young Irish baseball player is interviewed during the grand opening ceremony at the new baseball field in Ashbourne, County Meath, Ireland.

Here’s a great video from opening of the new baseball facility in Ashbourne, County Meath, Ireland on August 8, 2015. The Baseball United Foundation is proud to be a partner with the Ashbourne Baseball Club and Baseball Ireland!

The development of new baseball fields and facilities is always an important┬ástep in the development of baseball in any country where the game is not traditionally played, and Ireland is no different. Baseball has been played in Ireland since the early 1990s and the first baseball fields in Ireland were built in Dublin in 1998, thanks to the support of former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Peter O’Malley. The new facility in Ashbourne is another step towards making youth and amateur baseball a long-term and sustainable sport in Ireland.

It looks like the new facility was a big hit!
