Last week, we met County Cavan’s own Irish Baseball legend Andy Leonard and examined failed attempts to bring baseball to Ireland in the late 1800s. But at the same time baseball was failing miserably at becoming an Irish sport, the game was thriving among Irish immigrants in America. Over time, the game of professional baseball was dominated by Irish-born and Irish-American players.
