Gus Hernandez: An Irish Baseball Legend

Today, we look at Ireland’s trip to the 1996 European B-Pool Championships. As baseball stories go, you won’t find many that are better than the story of Ireland’s preparation and participation in the 1996 European B-Pool Championships. At the heart of the story stands Gus Hernandez – a humble, soft-spoken Mexican native who became an Irish citizenship via marriage. Gus’ story is epitomizes the story of so many players on the Irish National Team – no matter where they come from, they are all so proud to represent Ireland.
