A Brief History of the Irish Junior National Baseball Team
Last year, Ireland won the European B-Pool Qualifying Tournament in Zurich, Switzerland. The Irish won the gold medal by defeating Belgium, Switzerland, Poland and Russia by a combined score of 65-17.
The team was organized by the Baseball United Foundation, in partnership with Baseball Ireland. Players were recruited from throughout Ireland and the United States over a period of six months. All players were required to have an Irish passport in order to play.
Players who did not hold an Irish passport, but qualified for an Irish passport because their parent or grandparent was born in Ireland, were assisted in the citizenship application process by the Baseball United Foundation.
Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to tournament time!
